Confetti – The Multiway Bridesmaid Dress from In One Clothing
On the 16th August 2013, beautiful bride Natalie Mcilroy tied the knot with her beau Mark at Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire.
Natalie chose the fabulous Confetti Multiway bridesmaid dress for her big day. In One Clothing asked Natalie about her search for the perfect bridesmaid dresses, why she chose Confetti and if she was pleased with her choice on the big day! Let’s hear what Natalie said…
When and where did you get married and was your big day everything you dreamed of?
“16th August 2013, Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire. The big day was even more wonderful than we had anticipated. Everything went perfectly from getting ready, to the ceremony itself to the wonderful food! The tapestry ceremony room at Fyvie was even more beautiful than we remembered – it really had the wow factor! We had a very unconventional, Humanist ceremony with friends doing readings, playing guitar and we even had a hand fasting with Mark’s family tartan”.
How soon into your wedding planning did you start thinking about bridesmaid dresses?
“Really just after the venue and date was set, I started to think about bridesmaid dress colours, although the shape and style came later. I knew I wanted something soft – no loud colours for me – so I was thinking either a sage green, chalky grey or possible even cream. I knew quite early on that I would like a dress with beading so I hoped that the bridesmaid dresses would match the detail of the dress. “
Were your bridesmaids all the same shape and did you worry about their personal preferences when looking at potential dresses?
“Yes, I worried terribly! Not only were my bridesmaids on either sides of the world, one in New Zealand, the other in Scotland, but also their sizes were very different. We could not all go shopping altogether so we had to chat via email and telephone, sending pictures to each other and trying to get a general idea of what each bridesmaid liked. Luckily, both girls wanted a full-length dress so that was a good starting point! “
What was your budget?
I was keen not exceed £200 and was looking at around the £150 mark for each dress. With so many elements to consider in our budget, I wanted something reasonably priced and also a dress that could be worn again to justify the cost! In One Clothing’s Confetti dress offered the great value for money I was looking for, plus my bridesmaids could wear the dress again and again for other occasions.
How did you come across In One Clothing Multiway Dresses and why did you choose them?
“Once I had made my choice regarding the wedding dress I knew that I wanted soft grey for the bridesmaids dresses. My dress was quite a cold white with silvery grey beading so I thought light grey would off set it perfectly. I was chatting to a friend about the difficulty I was having choosing a style of dress that would suit two different sizes and she invited me round to her place to see a multiway dress she had. I loved the idea of one dress being worn different ways to suit different body shapes, that and the way the dress could be altered to suit my bridesmaids personal style – I knew instantly knew that this would be the best way forward for my bridesmaids. I started to search the market and found Confetti by In One Clothing. Confetti was very affordable, with the added bonus of being able to be worn 14 different ways and with a great selection of colours!”
How did you and your Bridesmaids decide which way to wear the dresses?
“After requesting my swatch card and selecting the perfect grey, I was sent links to their online video tutorials on each of the 14 ways Confetti could be worn. I sent these links along with a downloadable ‘how to wear’ brochure to my bridesmaids in New Zealand and Scotland and we had a bit of a Skype conference whilst looking at the information. I was happy with the dress length and colour so was more than happy for my bridesmaids to individually choose the best way for them to wear the dresses. I liked the idea of them not matching exactly. My younger sister wore hers as ‘knotted thin strap’ and my sister-in-law went for the sleeved option, both finding the right style for their shape.”
Were you happy with the dresses on the day and do you think your bridesmaids were happy too?
“I was delighted with the dresses. The quality of the fabric was great, very heavy and soft which was so flattering on both. Both bridesmaids liked the versatility of the dresses and the fact they had freedom to mould the dress to their personal style and could wear them again which was a huge bonus!
Would you recommend In One Clothing and our Confetti dress to other brides and if so, why?
Absolutely, for brides out there who cannot do the whole group-shopping trip this is a great, stress free, online option – the online support showing you the dress options and videos on how to wear were fantastic. As the sizes are just XS, S, M and L it gives more flexibility and the dresses can be loosened or tightened as each bridesmaid desires. One of my bridesmaids decided to wear the bandeau top for extra coverage and it was great to have that option. I was thrilled with the end result and my maids have a beautiful dress they can change up and wear again and again.
