If you have always hankered after owning an evening dress by London’s royal couture brand Bellville Sassoon, now is your chance – kind of…
Because Lorcan Mullany, the third name in the design triumvirate officially known as Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullaney for more than 20 years, is now designing ravishing evening gowns for Jacques Vert. And with a price point starting around £200, everyone can afford one of these gowns for a special occasion.
Champagne Shauntung Shift Dress – £239.20
Black Draped One Shoulder Gown – £319.20
Diamanté One Shoulder Gown – £319.20
Lorcan didn’t ever have quite the profile he deserved. This was probably because, despite the retirement of Belinda Bellville and Lorcan’s design prowess and huge contribution to the success of the brand in its latter years, the royal couture brand continued to be widely known as Bellville Sassoon – sorry Lorcan!
Lorcan’s gorgeous gowns for Jacques Vert incorporate many of the super flattering design features that were the hallmark of his and David Sassoon’s designs for Bellville Sassoon. And now every woman who has lusted after one of the royal brand’s magically pretty long or short dresses, can now own one for that special party or occasion.
Founded by Belinda Bellville in the early 60s, Bellville Sassoon subsequently made evening and occasion wear for virtually every British royal female, including the Princess of Wales, aka Princess Diana, for whom they made her going-away outfit. Following its closure in 2013, the brand held a lavish retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Textile and Fashion in 2014.
