These are some of our favourite items chosen from the new spring and transitional collections across a range of brilliant brands and stores. These are pieces we love, and which will work hard in your wardrobe for an entire season, and beyond. When you see something you like on SoSensational and click the “Buy now” button or image, you will be taken directly to the merchant website (i.e. John Lewis, M&S, MyWardrobe, etc). You can then shop with complete confidence, knowing you benefit from that merchant’s safeguards, and delivery and refund policies. But remember, if you love something, buy it now, as items sell very fast. |
![]() As we said in the last of our picks, tote bags are going to be huge for spring and summer. We picked a fabulous Boden one in our last picks (see it in bags, now), but this time we have found a gorgeous one, at a brilliant price from clever old Oasis. |
![]() There are some basics a girl needs in her wardrobe, and this washed silk top by Rochas (at a very reasonable - for a leading designer label - £285) is one of them. It is a great cut, and a very flattering creamy shade, and will work with trousers, under a suit, on holiday... as we said, a brilliant wardrobe basic. |
If you haven't worn one yet, the petit stiletto is a great shoe. It works with a simple shift dress or a suit, and looks totally on trend with skinny jeans or ankle-skimming trousers. And unlike ballerina flats, it gives you a little extra height. We love this one from LK Bennett and would if we could own it in all five colours - salmon (above) palest rose, latte, red and black ...

![]() Blouses are the perfect transitional piece, working under a jacket or cardigan now, and perfect to wear on their own when the temp heats up. And florals, of course, are a key trend, which makes this placement print floral blouse one of our favourite (and best value picks).
|
![]() To be honest, we have been a bit wary of jumpsuits up to now. Maybe a trend aimed at the under-30s, or too hard to wear, or with no staying power. But for spring, jumpsuits are going mainstream, and we just love this one from Phase Eight with its flattering wrap cut. And it's the perfect holiday, piece, too...

![]() This very long taupe jersey top from Great Plains is one of our favourite pieces for spring. It will look brilliant over leggings or skinny jeans and with a jacket over the top it will take you to the office. Add jewellery and fierce strappy sandals to the mix, and it's perfect for dining out.

![]() This coat by Amanda Wakeley is our one truly extravagant "Pick", but it is just the most elegant and useful coat for spring and summer. It works the way it is styled in the picture, with trousers and strappy platforms, but you could also dress it up to take you to a spring wedding, or some other glamorous occasion. |
We both vote this Great Plains cropped jacket, the perfect little leather jacket for spring. It is a terrific neutral, meaning it works with other neutrals, brights and pastels, and is really versatile. Layer it over a long top and skinny jeans for weekend and off-duty wear, and with a dress or a pencil skirt for work or dress-up moments. |
