If you are a regular visitor to SoSensational, which we hope you are and for which we thank you, you will have probably spotted that Jan and Cyndy are big fans of John Lewis.
Like SoSensational, John Lewis understands the fashion needs of grown-up women.
The newest fashion brand to arrive at John Lewis is Hush, the British fashion brand creating laid-back separates and everyday wardrobe essentials that combine comfort and style for women of all ages. The Hush ethos is to offer extremely wearable basics that have a high-fashion twist employing soft fabrics and beautiful cuts. A laid-back sense of style helps create a collection that is cool, confident and versatile.
For instance, a series of brilliantly well-cut long-sleeved dresses which can be cleverly styled to be appropriate for all the different areas of our life…Take one Annalise Dress add statement jewellery and maybe a belt, and Annalise becomes a sexy going-out dress; alternatively add opaque tights and brogues, and Annalise is the epitome of efficiency and authority for work. And, of course, Annalise could also be styled with ankle boots and an animal print scarf to be perfect for a flat-white with the girls.
Hush is also a brand where the focus is on feeling good, as well as looking good, so the brand uses natural fabrics, all of which are responsibly sourced without doing any harm to animals
For Autumn/Winter, alongside the brilliantly versatile Annalise Dress, there are lots of clever, slouchy, long-sleeve (and ¾-sleeve) dresses in varied lengths and varied necklines, most of which can be styled for, er, work, rest and play!
There are also skirts in different lengths and shapes, from pretty, print and plain “flippy” skirts to on-the-money pencil skirts, some in leather; some shorter, requiring us (50-plus ladies) to team them with thick tights and brogues.
The Hush range at John Lewis also features great outerwear, appropriate for work and for weekends.
The Hush tops and knits at John Lewis all share the same relaxed vibe – a bit slouchy, a lot chic and extremely versatile, lending themselves to the same treatment as the dresses: to be styled in different ways for the different parts of our lives.
Here are our Picks. Do take a look and tell us which are your favourites.
Jan, as usual, cannot resist a leather pencil skirt.
Style this with this fine V-neck sweater in navy (black leather looks particularly wonderful paired with navy-blue), or pair it with this slouchy grey-marl sweater.
And to wear over the top of the skirt – and with lots already in the wardrobe – Jan covets this sensational, Edie jacket in black.
Cyndy has fallen hard for this cashmere boyfriend sweater (better not tell her husband) in brown sugar which works with jeans for weekends and with tailored trousers or a pencil skirt for the office. Cyndy also covets this crew-neck jumper in burgundy.
And the Silvie midi dress also in burgundy, which you could style for work with brogues and an oversized scarf, and for weekends with Chelsea boots, a wide belt and statement earrings.
A combination of jewel colours AND leather, 2 of her faves, this Steph Leather Top is high on Cyndy’s wish list.
