The biggest mistake if you are a curvy plus lady is to wear clothes that are too small. If getting exactly the right fit is proving difficult, buy LOOSER than you need; never tighter. (And fib about the size if necessary – only YOU know what it says on the label.)
Underwear is your friend.
We thought we would share with you some amazing tips on how to accentuate that amazing curvy figure once and for all, and make the most of those assets, drawing attention to those bits you love and helping you feel better about those bits you don’t feel so great about.
Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise.
Statement necklaces, oversized bags and stunning sunglasses – accessories are a great way to detract from areas you aren’t so keen on and allow you to add some colour to your wardrobe.
Create Balance.
Creating balance is essential when you are dressing a plus sized figure. If you have a fuller bust counter balance this with a pair of well-tailored trousers, if you are pear shaped then don’t be afraid to wear prints and colour on top whilst keeping your bottom half in more muted tones, if you are rectangle in shape then add some structure to your outfit but be mindful to remove shoulder pads that will only unbalance the look.
Cheat.
Every woman regardless of their shape and size cheats to ensure that they look their best by making the most of their favourite assets. For bigger busted ladies the wrap dress is your friend. It highlights you décolletage and nips you in at the waist showcasing your perfect hourglass figure. The boho look with floaty bell sleeves, in sheer material helps to disguise heavier arms whilst keeping you on tend this summer. If you have a boxier shape, then keep it flirty and lightly structured with a great blazer this will help reduce the wider shoulders and add a feminine edge to your shape.
Don’t read the label.
Clothes are not about their size they are about their fit – or at least they should be. Try not to think about the size you are wearing but more about how it looks on you, and if you are between sizes then always go for the bigger size and have it altered, rather than feeling self-conscious in something that is just a little too tight.
