Well, lovely readers. SoSensational is thrilled to have had another moment in the limelight…
Earlier in April The Times published a big story on Cyndy and Jan, the founders of SoSensational.
The story followed a month of mentoring from Sophie Cornish, the very clever woman who co-founded Notonthehighstreet.com. The month of mentoring was SoSensational’s prize for being one of five winners in a prestigious business competition called Ready Business Britain, run by The Times newspaper, in conjunction with Vodafone.
The Times writer, Gabriella Griffiths, was very complimentary about our co-founders: “Perched next to each other in their Essex home-office, SoSensational founders Cyndy Lessing and Jan Shure look just that – sensational. The pair, both in their mid-sixties, are wearing brightly coloured biker jackets and talking enthusiastically about the genesis of their business.” You can read more here.
Not only did The Times run a story on Cyndy and Jan, they put their picture next to the masthead on that day’s online edition and featured us in a video! Watch it here.
But even better than the exposure for Jan and Cyndy was what Sophie Cornish said about SoSensational:
“Cyndy and Jan …[have] a clear vision of their customer. Their team is well briefed, motivated and focused, and their leadership is experienced and competent, yet highly adaptable.
“The business opportunity – to be the leading fashion curator, editorial authority and one-stop-shop for grown-up women – is incredibly exciting, and I couldn’t wait to be involved.
“Since Jan and Cyndy are so thirsty for direction and knowledge, my mission has been to ensure they keep their eye on the big vision, and don’t take on too much, lose focus, or become distracted by the small stuff. With this in mind, I wanted to give them the tools and confidence to prioritise – and to be pretty ruthless about it. First up was to produce the business plan itself….Other priorities emerged from these discussions: the need to work with a marketing expert and a technical partner.
“Having witnessed first hand the way in which Cyndy and Jan have tackled both personal and business adversity with such resilience and humanity, I look forward to watching SoSensational continue to deliver on the promise that it makes. With their talent and inspiring personalities, they can engage their customers at every touch point.”
See what we mean! Thank you, Sophie Cornish and Notonthehighstreet.com; thank you, The Times and thank you Vodafone…
