Carpet Bags

Carpet Bags offer a totally unique and beautiful collection of handbags, travel bags and laptop cases, handmade in East Anglia from specially woven carpet fabric that is hard wearing and gorgeously tactile.

Each fully lined bag is unique, thanks to variation in cutting, and fittings are all hand-made in solid brass.

The first carpet bags were made in 1974 for a local charity stall in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Today, the founders still craft each item individually in Cambridgeshire, where Carpet Bags has a shop, website and mail order business, as well as supplying stores in London and elsewhere.
