We can all feel a little bit flat during January. The holidays are over, we’ve eaten far too much food and taken the Christmas decorations down. However, we’ve got 10 little tips to hopefully beat those January blues we all fear…
1. Declutter your home
Decluttering and organising your home is a brilliant way of ‘starting fresh’ for the year. By decluttering our surroundings we’re decluttering our mind. So get rid, recycle, organise and give your home that good sort out!
2. Try out a new hobby
Finding yourself a new hobby is a brilliant distraction during a challenging January. Try and take up a hobby which is realistically achievable. Developing a brand new skill is a great confidence booster! If arts & crafts is your thing why not try out Crocheting or Scrapbooking? Have fun and unwind with a rewarding hobby!
3. Organise your diary
Keep yourself organised by writing important events, birthdays and appointments in your 2022 diary. This is a good way to get excited about future events (such as birthdays, weddings, etc) and it also keeps you organised which we love!
4. Spend time with others
We can feel quite deflated after the holidays, therefore it’s important to make plans and surround ourselves with people. Catch up with an old friend, go for a walk with family and talk to someone if you are feeling a little bit lonely or sad.
5. Go outside
During the winter months it’s important to get outside during the day when the shine is shining. Whether you go biking, jogging or just take the dog for a walk, soak up some sunshine!
6. Plan nice things
We’re not just talking about holidays here. Plan something or anything fun or relaxing that you want to do, whether that be with family, friends or by yourself! Take time plan a get together with some old friends, or pencil in a pamper day for yourself – these little things are great mood boosters!
7. Get a good nights sleep
Easy to say, but perhaps not always easy to do. Get yourself back into a good evening routine. Try to start unwinding a few hours before you go to bed. Do your skincare routine, plan your outfit for the next day and step away from all digital devices an hour before you plan to go to sleep (we know how easy it is to sneakily watch TV in bed). Opt for reading or mindfulness instead of checking the laptop or mobile phone. Keep your bedroom decluttered and airy to create a relaxing atmosphere. Try out a pillow spray to get a better nights sleep (always worth a try!).
8. Avoid unrealistic New Year’s resolutions
Setting unrealistic resolutions leave us deflated if we don’t achieve them. Set yourself small, achievable goals and have a defined plan as to how you’re going to achieve them. Tick off the goals and you’ve achieved throughout the year and remember any progress is still progress.
9. Get active
If you’re feeling a little sluggish after the festive period try and get active again to improve both your physical and mental health. Whether it be Yoga, hiking or jogging. Try something that you could see yourself enjoying to ensure it becomes part of your daily routine.
10. Have some ‘me’ time
During the month of January we can be rushed off our feet with work or plans for the rest of the year. Therefore it’s important to schedule in abit of ‘me’ time to help ourselves unwind and destress. Have a pamper, a craft night or simply read a book, do something for YOU.
We hope these little tips help you to have a brighter January! Stay fabulous xoxo
