We get it, the end of summer can be a confusing time in terms of deciding what to wear. Should we be still dancing around in our summer dresses, or unpacking those beloved jumpers and cardigans? We’ve decided to put together our 5 favourite transitional pieces to help you look stylish from summer to autumn.
1- Blazers
Wearing a neutral coloured blazer is a perfect transitional piece from summer to autumn. It’s a nice mid-way point between a thin jacket and winter coat. Blazers can easily be styled with so many different outfits to create a smart-casual look. Our favourite smart-casual style is to wear a blazer over the top of a plain t-shirt, blouse and jeans. This creates a effortlessly cool everyday look which is fitting for both summer and autumn. Our current go-to blazer is Relaxed Linen-Look Blazer from Wallis (£40.00). With three colours to choose from in sizes from 8-20, we’re loving this staple piece.
2- Midi or Maxi Dress
Opting for a long dress is a perfect way of taking your style from summer into autumn. We would suggest a long dress with full or half length sleeves (because having cold arms is a no-go). We love the Mono Floral Shirred Midi Dress from Dorothy Perkins (£35.00). This dress is ideal to dress up or down depending on the occasion. On those colder days style this dress with a cropped blazer or suede jacket and long boots.
3- Suede jacket
Invest in a suede jacket to keep you warm from the end of summer through to autumn. This is a perfect transitional outerwear piece to keep you warm in style. Go for a neutral toned style such as the M&S Collection Faux Suede Collarless Biker Jacket (£45.00). Throw over any outfit, day or night.
4- Crisp white shirt
The crisp white shirt is a timeless piece which can easily be dressed up or down no matter the season. For a smart, casual look pair with jeans and a oversized blazer to look perfectly put together. You can get gorgeous white shirts of every style anywhere, however we love the White Linen Look Shirt from Dorothy Perkins (£19.99). Wear buttoned up and tucked into your favourite jeans.
5 – Loafers
It isn’t autumn without a pair of loafers! Treat yourself to a pair of comfortably stylish loafers which can be worn everyday. Our current favourite design is the Suede Buckle Block Heel Loafers from the M&S Collection (£39.50).
