It is almost the end of January. We apologise for stating the blindingly obvious, but we think that, if you are anything like us, you began the New Year, with lots of resolutions relating, probably to health and fitness.
Now, obviously, we hope the fitness regime is going well, but whether it is or it isn’t, January (and, indeed, February) is the perfect time to do something about skin.
And best news, we can do that without having to leave our nice warm bed at 6am, or having to go to the gym after a tough day at work.
And we can get the benefit of superfoods too, because many of the superfoods we are told we should eat, feature in these amazing beauty products. These beauty products containing superfoods bring all kinds of benefits, from deep-cleansing, to anti-ageing.
For instance, Elemis Superfood Oil contains a blend of highly concentrated anti-oxidant and omega-rich superfood extracts to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin, including broccoli, flax-seed and daikon radish.
Kiehl’s rich and creamy Avocado Eye Treatment deploys the natural anti-oxidant goodness, and anti-ageing qualities of the avocado as a highly effective treatment for the delicate eye area..
Mushrooms, a potent superfood, are among the ingredients contained in Origins Multi-masking set. When you want to tackle skin issues on all fronts, the Origins Mix & Mask is the way to go. Whether you’re looking to get your skin glowing for a night out, relieve stress related-breakouts, or soothe and moisturise while you sleep, the Mix & Mask set addresses skin needs with a mask for every issue, including the mega-mushroom skin-relief face mask.
We also love Origins ‘By All Greens’ foaming clay mask. Packed with nutrient-rich superfoods spirulina, spinach and green tea, this green blend is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It also contains coconut-derived cleansers and kaolin clay, to give skin a deep, gentle cleanse.
Kiehl’s Tumeric and Cranberry Mask uses the amazing spice and vitamin-packed cranberry for an instant facial that helps to restore tired, dull skin and to leave skin smoother and more luminous.
The superfood ingredients rosehip, mango and coconut are found in this impressive cleansing balm from Trilogy. This magic ‘Make-Up Be Gone’ cleansing balm melts away make-up, even the hardiest waterproof mascara.
Vitamin-rich blueberry and blackberry extracts are among the ingredients in this hydrating, reparative gel mask from Ole Henriksen. The perfect antidote to facial stress, this potent blend of extracts smoothes and polishes skin, while Lavender extract reduces inflammation. The nourishing and hydrating properties of panthenol (vitamin B5) combines with papaya enzyme to freshen skin and remove dead skin cells.
Kale is, of course, a high-profile superfood thanks to Gwynneth Paltrow and Deliciously Ella. Instead of sipping a kale smoothie, let kale strengthen your nails with Nails Inc’s Nail Kale base coat, a patented regenerating complex which boosts the production of keratin for harder, stronger and healthier nails.
Chia seeds are a superfood because they one of the richest vegetable sources of omega 3 fatty acids that protect the skin from oxidative stress, a key accelerator of the signs of ageing. Chia oil is a major ingredient in revolutionary, multi-tasking Chia Serum from Perricone MD.
Like chia seeds, almonds are a superfood and another rich source of skin-boosting omega 3 fatty acids. Almond proteins are the key ingredient in Amande Concentre de Lait from L’Occitane. This silky body cream nourishes and smoothes the skin, helping to firm and tone.
Although Calendula is not a superfood – indeed, not a food at all – extracts of this amazing, healing plant is a key ingredient in a brilliant line of redness-rescue products from Jurlique. These are the products we need to soothe and calm our skin when we break out with redness or blotches.
And when your skin is smooth and luminous, enhance it almost invisibly with clever, barely-there make-up such as Nude By Nature and Bare Minerals.
If you get too famished on your New Year diet regime, you could always tuck into the avocado moisturiser! Only joking; please don’t!
