The business was founded by Jack Offenbach and his wife Sara in East London. In 1936 Jack and Sara's 3 sons joined the business, which moved to the West End with a new factory and showroom. In 1939 The war begins and all 3 sons move their factory out of London to Macclesfield, Cheshire. In 1944 The family changed the name of the business from J. Offenbach to Shubette of London and in 1945 after the boys return from the army full of enthusiasm they move Shubette to Great Portland Street in London. They took over design, production and administration. Shubette was the first fashion house in Great Portland Street to have a window display as they unveil the new name. In 1965 Gary Offenbach joins Shubette on the design side, and in 1966 his younger brother Clifford joins the sales team. In 2005 the fourth generation in the family join the business, cousins Mark Offenbach and Juliette Offenbach. In 2014 Gina Bacconi exhibits for the first time at Shanghai Fashion Week.
