We are two weeks into January and we have reached that point in everyone’s calendar when the excesses of Christmas and too much winter comfort-food sends us off to enroll at the gym, to book a yoga or Pilates course or to book an appointment with a personal trainer.
And while, once upon a time, a trusty leotard or a pair of trackie bottoms and an old tee was all one needed to climb into for a workout, today’s activewear is all about performance fabrics, fashion-led colours and, of course, specific kit designed for specific kinds of activities.
For instance, if you are doing almost any type of Yoga (including Iyengar yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa yoga or Hatha yoga) or Pilates, you want fitness clothing which looks good but also allows you to stretch and flex easily.
If you are going into the gym or the fitness studio, surrounded by all those mirrors, we understand that what is really crucial to staying the course is choosing kit that you want to put on because it makes you look and feel good. At SoSensational, we think the key to activewear that you want to wear lies in the Three Cs – Cut, Colour and Comfort.
We also recognise that not everyone wants to splash out on pricey gym kit, so there is gym kit and yoga/Pilates kit and running kit at all price-points. There is even a tank top in bright orange (we wonder if that was made especially for Cyndy). And while orange is a key colour for S/S16, we know not everyone loves it or can wear it, so we have found brilliant activewear in black and other dark neutrals, as well as in pastels and in other brights. We have even found you activewear tops with a sleeve! How’s that for delivering on our promise of always finding the appropriate pieces for stylish grown up women.
