One of the slightly annoying issues Jan and Cyndy occasionally face when shopping online for gorgeous handbags is trying to determine whether a particular bag is the right size for them.
Most sites, of course, tell us the dimensions of a handbag, but just having the dimensions is rarely enough.
We have to visualise the width, depth and height, and then task our brain to compute whether that size bag will be too big, too small, or just right. And too often the dimensions are (groan) in centimetres, which don’t instantly mean anything to us, so we have to convert to feet-and-inches to get a real sense of the bag’s size…
If it seems like waaaay too much effort, we may give up. But clever bag brand, Aspinal of London have found a genius way to let us see exactly how a handbag will work for someone of our size and our height…
Here’s how: on every page, alongside all the views of the bags, you will see a tab which reads “Click to view scale”. That takes you to a page with an avatar (an outline drawing of a female figure) holding the bag you clicked from.
This is the really genius bit. On the top left of the page is a “button” which allows you to easily adjust both the height and the size of the avatar, enabling us to see how the bag looks in proportion to a woman of our exact build and height. So, whatever size we are, however tall or petite, we can see if that bag – tote, cross-body, shoulder, top-handle, clutch, hobo, mini-trunk, whatever – will be right for us.
How clever is that!
Here’s a few of our favourites at Aspinal…
