Plus size women, from models, bloggers and activists to entertainers, are taking the fashion world by storm.
As a way to encourage body confidence, leading plus-size brand, Evans, is helping share the stories of eight inspirational women in their “#IamMe” campaign…
The campaign line-up includes bloggers Nadia Aboulhosn and Callie Thorpe; models Hayley Hasslehoff, Alessandria Garcia and Brielle Anyea; as well as Anna Shillinghaw, the founder of plus-size modelling agency, Milk. Completing the group are ultra-marathon runner Mirna Valerio and singer-songwriter Jessica Clemmons – all proving that fashion can and should be focused on women’s achievements more than their clothing size.
With this array of gorgeous and inspirational women and a powerful message, who better to broadcast it than Evans? As a market leader in plus size fashion, with more than 150 outlets in the UK and an important online presence, they offer on-trend fashion to all women – helping to show how diverse and remarkable women truly are.
Demonstrating that women are strongest when they are united, the women of the #IamMe campaign stand as a group to showcase Evans’ SS16 collection. The collection and the campaign are designed to show how fashion can empower women and make them more confident – which, of course SoSensational enthusiastically endorses. While we’re aware that these are young women, the message still applies and there’s no doubt that Evans cater to those of us over the age of 50.
As blogger and magazine columnist, Callie Thorpe says: “Fashion is for everybody.” And Evans definitely recognises that. Whether you have an Apple, Pear, Hourglass shape or are Busty, there’s something in the new Evans S/S16 collection to make you look and feel sensational.
APPLE:
If you are bigger round the middle with slim legs and bottom, look for tops with vertical lines and slim fitting trousers to show off your legs. Go for shift dresses which have a loose fit around the waist and will also accentuate your legs.
BUSTY:
If you have a voluptuous bust with narrow hips and bottom, opt for some patterned trousers to draw attention to your bottom half. Keep your top half plainer and choose scooped out necklines. Wrap dresses work well for Busty ladies as well as long-line jackets and waistcoats.
HOURGLASS:
A defined waist with a fuller bust and bottom; try to accentuate your narrow waist with contrasting colours on your top and bottom halves or with dresses with a well defined waistline. Wrap dresses also work well for Hourglass ladies.
PEAR:
As a pear you might have shapely hips and a rounded bottom with narrow shoulders and a smaller bust. Skater dresses are a great shape for you… If you prefer separates, choose darker-coloured bottom halves and lighter-coloured tops to balance out your silhouette. Wide-leg trousers will do the trick!
