As much as we don’t want to admit it, Winter is on the way! It’s getting colder, darker and we need to be prepared when were out and about so we don’t get caught out by the rain or cold! With all that being said, here is our top 10 winter handbag essentials to ensure you stay dry and warm this season.
1. Hand cream
No one wants cold, dry, cracked hands. Therefore chuck your favourite hand cream in your go-to day bag to keep those hands moisturised. Our current favourite is the hand cream is the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Soothing Hand Cream (£7.50) This hand cream is beautifully nourishing and ideal for those (me) with sensitive skin.
2. Tissues
Okay, so this one is probably quite obvious during the winter. However, we’ve all forgotten to keep a pack of tissues in our bag at some point. With it being flu season make sure to keep a pack of tissues handy.
3. Hand Sanitiser
Now, we’ve all most likely got hand sanitiser on our person all the time over the past 18 months, however like tissues, hand sanitiser is one to easily forget. Keep your hands sanitised whenever you go on public transport or shopping.
4. Gloves
You never know when the weather can take a brisk turn during the day so it’s always a wise idea to keep a pair of gloves in your bag. Having cold hands is never fun so invest in some gloves which you can wear on a everyday basis. We personally love gloves that allow you to still work your smart phone, but if classic gloves are more your thing we recommend these super soft Cashmere Essential Gloves from The White Company (£49.00).
5. Lipbalm
Just like we don’t want dry hands, we don’t dry lips! The cold air can easily dry your lips out, so invest in a lipbalm which works for you and keep it in your everyday bag. Our go-to lipbalm is the Burt’s Bees Pomegrante Moisturizing Lip Balm (£3.99). Not only is the lipbalm a great price, but it also keeps lips soft and have a lovely scent.
6. Spare pair of socks
Okay, so you might laugh, but no one wants cold, wet feet. We’ve all accidentally walked through a puddle once and got wet feet, it makes us cold and miserable. However if we keep a spare pair of socks in our day bag we can ensure our feet stay warm no matter what.
7. Mini umbrella
Speaking of weather, it’s always good to keep a little umbrella handy in your bag just incase of a sudden downpour. You can purchase umbrella’s from pretty much anywhere, however we suggest a ultra strong one so a sudden gust of wind doesn’t break it. Take a look at the Totes Tiny X-tra Strong 5 Section Folding Umbrella (£24.00).
8. A torch
It get’s dark sometimes by half three during the winter months. Therefore, a torch is a great idea as a handbag essential. This is great if you can’t find something in your bag or if your phone dies.
9. Hand warmers
On particularly cold days sometimes gloves aren’t enough to keep us warm. That’s why we suggest popping in some reusable hand warmers into your bag which you can pull out if you’re particularly cold. Check out these Trespass Reusable Hand Warmers (£4.99).
10. A spare mask
So we’re all got a mask still on our person, however it’s easy to misplace or drop when you take it off. Therefore it’s a good idea to keep a clean, spare mask in your bag to ensure you always have one just in case.
Are these your winter handbag essentials? Let us know. As always, stay fabulous xoxo
