Dressing for a party raises all kinds of issues. One of these issues is potential boredom: we can easily get bored wearing the same frock many times over, however fabulous that frock might be.
Another issue is dressing correctly for the dress-code without having to buy a stack of new dresses.
This is why party separates are so sensational at this time of year; they give us ultimate wardrobe flexibility. Party separates allow us to switch tops and bottoms around endlessly and effortlessly. They allow us to pair tops and bottoms differently, according to the event as well as according to our mood.
For instance, an embellished top or a statement jacket or luxe blazer could be teamed with a pair of glamorous trousers for a black-tie event and could then be paired with a pair of jeans for something less formal, such as drinks at home.
Alternatively a stunning skirt in a sheer fabric or on-point shimmering lurex or velvet could be teamed with a sparkly little vest for a party and then worn with a simple top for the office ‘do’. And then, of course, you can accessorise your party separates in different ways to ramp up the glamour quotient, or take it down a notch, again depending on the dress-code and your mood. Obviously shoes and bags are key, but also scarves and jewellery add to the “wow” factor.
