At SoSensational, we love scarves and pashminas. And, of course, we’ll tell you why but we also know that almost a decade ago Vogue declared that your pashmina should be consigned to the dog-basket. Well, lovely ladies, we totally disagree.
A pashmina may not be totally on-trend but a pashmina or any kind of long scarf is your winter friend – especially if it is in your very best COLOUR! Jan once scoured the local DIY store for little paint colour charts so that a friend going to the Himalayas would be able to find her perfect colour pashmina…
These days any single-colour smooth, long scarf is known as a pashmina, whether it is made of precious goat hair and silk and costs an eye-watering sum, or is entirely synthetic… But own several in great colours and your winter (and indeed, summer) wardrobe orphans can be rescued and you never again need to look less than your absolutely most sensational.
And as we approach, the party season, a generous sized pashmina with a bit of gleam, glitter or lace, works really well as an evening cover-up.
The instant way to give your wardrobe an update to the Seventies, the era continuing to trend strongly for A/W 15 is to wrap a skinny, print scarf round your neck, ends hanging down the front, naturally.
With fur and faux fur still very strong looks this winter, the other style option is a furry scarf or stole. We love how glamorous these look and how a faux fur scarf or stole can elevate the simplest coat or jacket, to say nothing of keeping you toasty warm on the iciest of days.
And then, of course, there are toasty warm woolly ribbed and knitted scarves to ward off winter chills…
Do let us know which one’s your favourite… Just comment below.

Great scarves. I particularly like the Oliver Bonas with the pom-poms. Will definitely search that one out. If Christmas were closer I’d ask for it as a gift, but I can’t wait that long!

Love the Celtic cable knit scarf. Timeless design – I have it in cardigans, jumpers and now, hopefully, a scarf!
