Jan tried No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum.
She reports here:
“Even with all my years as a Beauty Editor, I was excited to trial No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum.
While over the decades, I had used super pricey new-to-the-counter products, sent by Beauty PRs, I had secretly yearned to try the No 7 Protect & Perfect range from Boots, as it had received such glowing reviews from real people and was so well priced.
When the Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum arrived on the market, I was very keen to try it and see for myself how effective it is.
Protect & Perfect is the UK’s first serum “clinically proven to deliver anti-wrinkle results that get even better over time.” Translated, that means the longer you use it, the more it reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Unlike moisturisers, serums are designed to ‘intensively target’ the main signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, loss of firmness and uneven skin tone.
These No 7 serums are powerful because they contain the highest concentration of active ingredients in a formulation that is absorbed super-fast. And the active ingredients that make them so powerful include Hyaluronic Acid; a patent-pending complex of antioxidants that incorporates rice peptides, vitamin C, and ginseng; and Matrixyl 3000 Plus™.
A technology developed by the No 7 boffins, Matrixyl 3000 Plus contains the highest concentration of anti-ageing peptides which, combined with pro-vitamin A, help “restore more youthful looking skin.”
According to the Boots website, the age guide for the serums is 30 to 45. It’s no secret I’m well outside that age range, but I was definitely willing to give it a go.
As instructed, I applied a pea-sized amount of serum to clean skin night and morning, massaging it onto my face and neck with my fingertips using ‘gentle, sweeping motions outwards from the centre of my face,’ as directed.
The serum has an almost imperceptible but very pleasant scent, and has a very light texture. It is easy to use, and vanishes into the skin quickly, leaving no sticky residue.
After one month, I can truthfully say that my skin looks smoother and softer and has a more even tone. I think the wrinkles look less, er, wrinkly and my skin seems firmer.
I’ve also been using the serum on my upper chest –my décolletage – and the skin seems significantly smoother and firmer too.
Would I use Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum again? Let me just say this: I kept one 30ml tube on my dressing table and another in the bathroom to be sure I didn’t miss using it night or morning. After a month I’m running out, so I have already re-stocked – this time with the two 50ml tubes, that are currently on a 3 for 2 offer.

I use Restore and Renew Serum and Moisturisers, and after having used more expensive brands like Elizabeth Arden, Clarins etc for many years, , I find No 7 is very effective and much cheaper. Also the No . 7 eye serum and cream in the same range is the only one I can use, as it does not have allergic reactions.
Very many thanks for letting us know Hazel. That’s really interesting feedback.
