We always think it’s important to choose your dress ahead of the time, and autumn/winter weddings bring a new set of rules and ideas to the special day. With the autumn/winter 2019 trends in mind, and extra pieces to make your look extra special, we’ve written the ultimate guide to autumn/winter Mother of the Bride and Groom dresses and looks just for you.
Florals, but make it dark. Dark florals are set to be a key trend for autumn/winter 2019, and look just gorgeous on a MotB or wedding guest dress. Dark hues fit perfectly with the cooler seasons, but pretty florals add a touch of femininity and chic styling perfect for a wedding.
If your wedding occasion is in autumn, look to nature for the perfect colourways. We just love yellows and oranges mixed with jewel tones to warm up your look and the cool weather.
Pastel colourways evoking frosty mornings and foggy days look just gorgeous at a wedding, and help to soften up dull days. Luxe silk, pretty embellishments and dainty floral prints look just perfect set on a light background.
Mix up a Mother of the Bride classic by opting for autumn and winter tones on a gorgeous lace dress. Don't worry about short sleeves, this is the perfect season to team your dress with a stylish jacket to keep you warm when the weather cools down.
Churches, registrar offices, halls, hotels or wherever you're heading for the wedding can often be cool in autumn and winter, especially if you'll be outside for pictures. Team your gorgeous new dress with a chic jacket to keep yourself warm- pick a smart, cropped piece or a tailored blazer for style points.
We'd recommend choosing a closed toe heel to keep your feet warm, and allow you to wear tights! We love a classic court or a stylish v neck shoe for Mother of the Bride looks.
Booked your first ever cruise? We bet you're here because you have no idea what to wear!
Fortunately, cruises are a lot more casual than they used to be. Whilst we'd still recommending one posh frock (Any excuse for a pretty new evening dress!), these days, you can most certainly get away with smart separates and summer dresses.
If you're heading on a cruise for one week, there's most likely to be two formal nights; an easy formula! Here, we'd recommend bringing one gorgeous cocktail dresses, and one set of separates- think silk or satin palazzos teamed with a gorgeous top like a pretty pussy bow blouse, lace or jewel adorned shirt or smart blazer and vest look. Elegant but not over-the-top evening wear is perfectly acceptable on even the most glamorous ships, as long as glam jewellery and heels ramp up the look. Alternatively, jumpsuits look equally as chic for the evening.
Midi and maxi dresses are ideal to take on a cruise with you- you can dress these down with flat sandals or even trainers in the day time, and glam them up with high heels (Here's your excuse to go as high as you can, you'll never be walking too far on the ship!) and statement jewellery in the evening. Complete the look with a slouchy bag in the day, or luxe clutch in the evening.
A variety of temperatures, and a cool sea breeze means it's important to bring some smart layers for evenings. We'd recommend a stunning pashmina or simple cardigan since you can wear these in the day too!
Whilst at sea, remember your layers for the cool sea breeze, and opt for more casual resort pieces. Whilst exploring, cropped trousers and midi and maxi skirts are ideal, whereas jeans and perhaps even a sweater or jacket is ideal whilst on the boat, or if your cruise takes you around a variety of different climates.

Do you find yourself excitedly heading to the shopping centre, only to come away because you can't find anything to suit?
As we get older, we find ourselves donning a muffin top, a third tyre or a tummy. Whatever we call it, it can make it difficult to find the perfect dress to disguise our belly! Luckily, there are so many dresses available to flatter our shape and style, so we've found some of our favourites for you.
Draping and knots
Draping and knots around the waist can perfectly conceal your tummy by ruching or laying over the tummy area, whilst defining or creating a waist at the same time.
Wrap dresses
Like knot dresses, wrap dresses ruche around your tummy to disguise any lumps and bumps, and create a waist. Bonus points for any tie detailing; this acccentuates your waist and hides your tummy even more!
Peplum
Some avoid peplum hems as they think they add bulk to the tummy area, but we believe they disguise it! Peplum dresses are perfect for work and occasions, and create a pretty hourglass shape.
Stripes
We all know horizontal stripes make you look taller and slimmer, but make sure you choose narrow stripes to really elongate your frame!
Cape Dresses
Let a cape dress flow over your tummy and disguise it without compromising on style; they're just perfect for your next occasion.

Life gets so busy that it can sometimes be hard to stay on trend.
As we hit our 50s, we took our power shoulder pads and skimpy skirts to the charity shop, but where should we stand on modern day essentials? We don't believe in hard and fast rules for our personal style, but we've come up with 7 indispensable pieces every stylish lady over 50 should have in her wardrobe.
LBD
As cliché as it sounds, everyone should have a gorgeous little black dress in their wardrobe! Choose an LBD you can easily dress up or down for work or occasions with comfortable flat loafers and heels, gorgeous jewellery and an array of jackets.
Cardigans
Oh-so simple, but so versatile! Cardigans make ideal layers all year round whether over a top or under a coat. Choose a few versatile pieces you can wear casually, for work and even for an extra layer at events. Choose a snug fit and simple block colours to match your outfits, and a cosy, chunky knit for cold days.
Leather Jackets
You're never too old for a leather jacket! Choose a classic style that fits well rather than an oversized style. Biker styles, waterfall jackets or collarless designs suit most ladies, and look seriously chic.
Leggings
A simple, yet essential piece in any wardrobe is a quality pair of leggings. They're warmer than tights in cold weather, yet look sweet with tunics and dresses in summer. Choose a pair with a thick fabric that holds their shape, and choose tops that cover your derrière!
Work Suits
Suits are so versatile for work; wear each piece on its own or all together for a chic look. Blazers also look gorgeous with jeans at the weekend! Choose fitted styles that flatter your figure.
Dark jeans
Of course, go for whatever jeans you love, but dark wash jeans are universally flattering and so easy to create an outfit out of. Choose a simple striped top for the day, or team with heels and a smart top for the evening. We think straight or bootcut jeans look gorgeous on ladies over 50.
Tank Tops
Your wardrobe essentials aren't complete without simple tank tops! They may sound boring, but they're an easy layer tucked into skirts, trousers and jeans, underneath jackets and cardigans, or even under your jumper on a cold day. Choose a snug fitting piece in essential and fun colours to smooth out any lumps and bumps.
