2020 is here, and this means a whole new raft of fashion trends!
Whilst spring/summer will soon be hitting the shops, we wanted to concentrate on trends for the whole year- meaning you can pick a piece now that will still look oh-so it come next December!
We’ve scowered through all of the fashion runways, and spotted a selection of pieces and styles that seem to reoccur, so we predict these will be huge this year! As always, there are some trends that are suited to the millenials and Gen-Zs, but that needn’t stop us boomers! Take a look at some of the trends set to hit the high street this year, perfect for stylish ladies over 50.
This year’s fashion is seeing a total vintage revival, much more so than other years. Whether it’s due to us returning to the roaring 20s, a huge decade for fashion, or as sustainability and re-wearing pieces becomes more and more vital, we’re happy with some of the gorgeous styles coming back from yesteryear!
2020 Trend One: Fabrics and Patterns
This year, a whole array of fabrics and styles are heading back to fashion heights. 70s cords and tweeds are being worked into stylish suits, the runways are adorned with leather or polka everything, and dresses and skirts are awash with pleats and chiffon. Denim is making a huge comeback this year after a couple of years off for combat fabrics, and we couldn’t be happier! Whether it’s the uber-flattering flares of the 70s, or a gorgeous midi or maxi denim skirt, we’re sure you’ll be stocking up on the latest denims.

2020 Trend Two: oversized
This year, things are looking more oversized, but in a good way. We don’t quite have the legs for our old 60s mini skirts, so we’re oh-so pleased to see the longer length skirts (above) and bermuda shorts perfect for holidays. Oversized bags are finally overtaking those ridiculous itsy bitsy bags that can only hold a lipstick, and boss-like wide leg trouser pants are back again- perfectly flattering for the right body shape (check yours here).

2020 Trend Three: Smart
Things seem to be taking a smarter approach this year, making this the perfect time to start stocking up on your workwear wardrobe! Our feet are glad loafers are coming back in a big way (they look fabulous with those wide leg trousers), taking over classic courts, peplum tops are perfect for both work and cocktails with the ladies depending on the fabrics you choose, and how you wear it, and cardigans are about to become fashion heroes rather than basics! Suits are of course around to stay for another season, this time designed with 70s styles in mind- think tweeds, shades of brown and double-breasted blazers.
