Here are all the key trends from the runways that are important for Spring/Summer 2017.
But more relevant, here are all the key trends from the runways that are important for a fashionable mature woman…
Colour
Colour is back and again this season it is big and bold. S/S 2017 saw opulent fuchsia and summery yellow take centre stage on all the runways, from Valentino to Jason Wu. These colours are going to dominate your wardrobe this season – you heard it here first!

The Super Shirt
Shirts have had a makeover for 2017. Designers are deconstructing and reconstructing this wardrobe staple, reworking sleeves, silhouettes and fastenings. Self-portrait led the pack with their unique take on the shirt for spring (note to self: if you don’t own a shirt with banker stripes or unusual structure or both, this is the season to buy one).

80s Vibe
Move over 1970s; the 80s were all over the runways, with everything from that era, from tulle skirts to oversized silhouettes. Gucci took the trend to the extreme. The way to work this trend for those of us who lived through the 80s is pick just one or two key pieces, to ensure you keep your wardrobe fresh and 2017. Don’t panic, we’ll be showing you how to wear and style the 80s vibe in coming months.

Slogan Tees
Slogan tees rule for this season. If you have something you want to say then saying it on your tee is the way to say it. Dior led the way with the ‘We should all be feminists’ tee and the High Street has been quick to follow. Slogan tees can be a hard trend for the over-50s, so here are some of the most wearable ones.
On the high street…
Rainbow Stripes
Stripes are a given pretty much every season, but this season has seen them take a dramatic turn to bright rainbow stripes. It doesn’t matter if they are chunky and wide or skinny and psychedelic they just need to be every colour of the rainbow. Find inspiration from the masters of stripes, Missoni.

Accessories
Shoes stay comfy – It was a close tie on the catwalks between flats and the low-heels of choice. And just like the designers we’re offering options, too so S/S17 will see you update your shoe collection with both dainty kitten heels and fancy flatforms. And in terms of comfort, both are ideal and can fit with your wardrobe.
Bags are at extreme ends of the size spectrum this season, think mini bags for evening wear and XXL bags for day wear – anything in between just won’t do. We love the play on silhouettes this accessories trend allows and the practicality the oversized bags give us.
What do you think of our Spring review? Will you be rocking any of the above trends this season?
