We have to confess to a Trend Crush. Our particular pash is for the It Jumper or It Sweater. That is, any gorgeous jumper which, by virtue of its colour, embellishment or pattern, constitutes a statement piece that doesn’t need to be paired with a jacket when you are going out and need to look truly fabulous.
Obviously, if it also possesses softness and warmth, we love it even more, but, TBH, our crush is very superficial and any beautiful jumper that fits our Style criteria will do.
This season’s most on-trend It Jumpers either have patches on shoulders (and maybe also) elbows of velvet or other fabric; or studs; or sequins/beads in yet another nostalgic look back to the 1980s.
Very high on our list of Favourite It Jumpers is a cashmere sweater in pink animal print with dipped back hem from M&S (pictured, below far left, second row) which we photographed at our recent video shoot – we’ll tell you more about that when the videos go live. We teamed this beautiful It Jumper with a pair of dark wash jeggings and a deep-pink pashminetta, and our makeover model, Glenys, a retired midwife from the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, looked stunning.
The trick with an It Jumper is to let it take the load; just add a scarf or necklace and maybe a bangle and earrings and leave it at that.
STYLE TIPS Hoist or roll the sleeves of your It Jumper up to elbows. This is a clever trick to make your legs – yes, your legs – look longer.
Also, if you have broad shoulders, choose your It Jumper with a raglan or dolman sleeve or a drop shoulder.
And if you have narrow shoulders, choose your It Jumper with set-in sleeves and add a very neat/soft pair of shoulder pads which, by balancing your torso, creates the illusion of slimmer hips.
We have found loads of gorgeous It Jumpers for you in all different shapes, cuts and colours and at all price points, so do take a look.
