The weather’s getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and the shops are starting to fill with the new season trends; hurray!
With spring on the horizon, we’re looking forward to the high street bursting at the scenes with the latest trends, so to get ahead, take a look at our one-stop guide to SS19 for mature ladies over 50.
Utility
We’re already seeing a lot of neutrals on the racks, so utility is set to be one of the biggest trends of the season. Beiges, khakis and neutrals look expensive and sophisticated, so pick a shade that will suit your skin tone, and channel it with perfect workwear trousers, the it safari coat, practical Bermuda shorts or a classic mac to get you through spring showers.

Scarf Prints
We just love patterned silk scarves, so gorgeous print adorned shirts, dresses and skirts on the catwalks certainly caught our eye. Choose shirt dresses, midi skirts and 70s bow-tie shirts in bandana, chain print and the all-important paisley print for sophisticated style this season. Another trend involves clashing prints which look just fabulous on wrap tops and dresses that flatter our figures.

Décor
As mentioned in our SS19 predictions, ornate decorations are a big hit with some of our favourite designers! 90s trends are back on the forecast, so to suit mature figures, a dose of feathers and butterfly embellishments can look just gorgeous and classy if worn correctly. We’d recommend keeping feathers and butterfly embellishments to evening wear or accessories to eliminate any chance of looking to young, but butterfly tops are fabulous! Milk maid and ruffled blouses are key this season, so our favourite 50+ hack is to choose dark or strong colours over pastel designs to create a more mature look.

Boho
What would spring or summer be without a hint of boho in our looks? This year, exotic prints, 70s crochet and fringing details take the spotlight, while animal prints continue to reign. To tone down the hippy look for us older ladies, we love sandy hues, embroidery and knitted dresses as well as simple fringed scarves and accessories; and every animal print we can get our hands on!

Key Colours

We aren’t quite prepared for the 90s neon look, but corals, oranges and hot magenta colours look just gorgeous on the right skin tone whatever your age. If you prefer pretty spring pastels, lavender and baby blue is key, or as we mentioned shades of beige are just perfect for a toned down look.
