Hi! My name is Laurie, I’m in my 50s, and I write a fashion/beauty blog for the more mature woman called Vanity and Me.
I’m so happy to be here today, offering tips on what to wear with the Christmas festivities in mind. I hope you like my choices from these 3 categories, because SoSensational have so much to offer, all from one site!
-
Casual wear – if you’re staying at home or going to friends or family
-
Smart wear- going out to dinner
-
Evening and party wear
Let’s get started with Casual wear
You can’t go wrong with a jumpsuit. This all-in-one piece will be both comfortable and stylish – even when you’re putting your feet up after dinner. This can easily be glammed up with a pair of heels and some bling jewels.
Next we have this fabulous dress by Jaeger. This non-fit dress will be so comfortable to wear. I love the bold colour and the fact that it’s not fitted – something I like to keep in mind in case I eat too much! Nothing worse than feeling like you need to un-button those trousers! You could wear flats, heels or even stylish knee high boots with this dress. I would glam this up with a statement necklace or a cuff like the one below.
If you’re out and about, maybe a country walk with the family after Christmas dinner this is just the most easy outfit. Black jeans, a cosy roll neck jumper and a wrap that’s so super stylish. I like the fact that this is reversible, and I like anything that works for its money!
Let’s move onto that going-out-to-dinner style…
I am a huge fan of the Winser London brand. This blue dress is gorgeous. The fit and quality of Winser London is second to none. The bonus of this dress, is that it will never date. You can accessorize or leave it plain, your choice.
This black jacket from Fenn Wright Manson will slip nicely over the dress above. Add a pair of black heels and a clutch. Any plain block coloured dress will look great with this jacket, or a skirt and top or trousers. I would choose a black clutch bag to tie in with the jacket, but you could choose nude or silver to ring the changes.
Velvet is such a huge trend right now. What I like about this cold shoulder top is the fact that it covers the neck and shows off our shoulders! At my age, it’s one of my best assets! Worn with the wide leg black trousers, this will put you right on trend looking super stylish. Wide legged trousers are often featured on my website. I just think they look so elegant. All that’s needed are some long dressy earrings.
Moving on to Party time
This fit and flare style skirt is my favourite trend right now. Show off that waist in this gorgeous printed skirt. It’s a beautiful colour too and I would team it with this silk top. A perfect pairing! Then all you need are your party heels.
Or stand out in style in this gorgeous sequined dress! This has to be my favourite item here. A classic cut, in full evening swing, I love the colour which anyone could wear. I would keep everything else as simple as possible. The dress does all the work.
I hope you like the pieces I’ve chosen from SoSensational. You may notice that there’s not too much black. Wear brighter shades – that’s my motto. Play with colour, especially at Christmas.
Have a great one!
Xo Laurie
