Unless for the past three months you have been hiding in a cave, with no Internet access, you cannot have failed to spot that beautiful Berry colours are huge for the current autumn/winter season.
Of course, every season brings a new crop (“crop”, “berries” hahaha) of colours, but it is the first time for many years that a single colour has stood out so spectacularly from the rest.
Indeed, it is possibly the first time since berry colours were last huge, which was in the 1970s: as we feel sure you know, the 1970s have been trending heavily for the last few years (hence maxis, platform shoes, suede and wide-leg trousers). This meant that berry colours (in the 70s called burgundy or plain old maroon) were due for a revival!
Because berry shades are softer versions of reds and purples, they are genuinely flattering and there is a berry shade to suit most complexions. Berry tones that have redder undertones are “warm” and suit those with warmer complexions; some are more purple-y or blue-based and suit those with cooler colouring.
You could wear a lot of berry or add just a touch in a nod to the trend.
Berry shades also work really well as lip colours – because there is a berry shade of lippy to suit most complexions. And even if you don’t usually wear strong lip colours, berry shades aren’t too shocking!
