Alison Moyet – here’s how to steal her style

We are fans of bluesy British singer-songwriter Alison Moyet going back to her Yazoo days. 

Since then, she has mainly worked as a solo artist (her UK album sales have topped 20 million).  We like her work, and particularly her most recent album, Other, which was released in June.

Aged 56 (she was born in June 1961) Moyet appears to have struggled, like many of us, with weight issues, but is looking great now, which is why we thought we might borrow (or steal) some of her style.

It is a given that Cyndy particularly loves Moyet’s gingery (oops, sorry, auburn) hair colour. We often bang on about keeping our colour going (i.e. not going grey just because Mother Nature has decided to wave her silvery wand over our head) but we think that with her warm colouring Moyet perfectly makes the case for keeping on keeping on with the tinting brush. Not that we are suggesting for a moment that she colours her hair; just that we think that rich, chestnut colour really flatters her, as it would flatter anyone with similarly rich colouring.

We like her make-up and think there are lots of cosmetic tricks we can steal. Those strong brows are particularly vital to her look. We love this brow kit by Estee Lauder as the essential way to achieve a Moyet-style brow.

We also love how she has emphasised her eyes but subtly. We would achieve the same effect using nude shadows, together with this YSL eyeliner in black, of course, and this mascara.
