Here are the big catwalk trends you need to know about to get dressed in Spring 2018.
And to make your life, easier,we are not only reporting the biggest Spring 2018 trends seen on the runways of London, Paris, Milan and New York, but we’re letting you know where to find them on the High Street, now, too…
Pastels were everywhere for spring 2018 and we love this take on pastels from Michael Kors.
Inspired by this New York-based designer, we love the idea of combining chunky knits with floaty midi skirts. It is a great way to be fashion-forward as the weather warms up a little. Pink, lilac and powder-blue are important pastels. Get the look with this lilac-print skirt and mohair knit from Whistles (below).
Florals are always perfect for Spring. They are a key look again in 2018, and we sought inspiration in floral prints from Dries Van Noten, who used bold (sometimes clashing) prints.
With its bold print and vibrant colour palette, this M&S shirt (below, left) is a stand out piece for Spring. For a sophisticated work-wear look, wear it tucked into your favourite skirt or trousers. Or wear it unbuttoned over a plain tee for an off-duty and weekend vibe. If you want to wear the trend a little less full-on, team your favourite white tee and skinny jeans with this gorgeous flower-print blazer from Boden.
Denim is big every season, and S/S 2018 sees the return of Dark Denim as a key trend. It was seen widely, but was particular yummy on the catwalk of uber trend-meister Tom Ford.
This is great news as, let’s be honest, this is one flattering shade of denim. For a brilliant pair of weekend jeans look no further than these barrel-leg jeans (below left), which are perfect to team with a Breton tee and white pumps. Alternatively take denim into the work-space with these uber flattering investment jeans from Maison Rabih Kayrouz, a label taking denim tailoring to the next level. Rolling up the jeans and adding a blazer and heels for the full Tom-Ford effect is optional…
Hmm, anoraks are no longer geeky outerwear. Thanks to their regular appearance on the catwalks, they are now deemed to be the perfect cover-up for spring showers. The anorak received an especially chic overhaul in 2018 on the catwalk of New York-based designer Claudia Li.
Hers was more an oversized, lightweight parka than an actual anorak but we have found some very on-trend showerproof jackets on the High Street that would signal trend-awareness, and would be perfect for April showers and for walking the dog at any time. Our particular loves are this amazing bright-yellow jacket from M&S and this gingham option from Boden.
Mixed Prints are big this season, and we have to say it is a trend we cannot wait to try out. For this trend, we have taken inspiration from Temperley.
Mixed prints are especially perfect for Occasions and weddings, but they require us to be bold with our choices. In spring 2018, look for mixed prints in rich fabrics with feminine silhouettes. For a high street version look no further than this gorgeous sleeveless midi dress (below left) by Ted Baker. Add a blazer and these monochrome heels to create a stand-out Occasion look. Or take the look casual by styling your jeans with a printed shirt and, again, these monochrome heels.
