Here at SoSensational, we love jumpsuits.
They’re elegant, stylish and flattering if worn correctly, so we love to opt for a classy jumpsuit as an alternative to our occasion dresses or summer maxi dresses! We have however been asked by a number of you sensational ladies just how to wear a jumpsuit, so we’ve put together a style guide to the best ways to dress a romper for stylish 50+ ladies!
Choose a look that fits
One of the key points when picking a jumpsuit is choosing one that fits perfectly. Make sure it fits you lengthwise- a sagging bum, hanging crotch or tight crotch isn’t especially flattering! Choose a jumpsuit that fits around your waist perfectly to look oh-so flattering, as well as one in the right leg length to stop it bunching up at your feet. Petite and plus size ladies, make sure your jumpsuit doesn’t swamp you in fabric.

Tailored pieces
If you’re searching for a jumpsuit for a formal occasion, tailored pieces are key. Waisted or belted pieces provide shape and structure to cinch in and flatter the waist, and so help to flatter whether you choose a slim fit or wide-leg jumpsuit. Take a look at our guide to choosing body shapes to help you decide what design the top half should be!

Key colours
Neutral or monochrome colourways are perfect for dressy looks, and easy to dress up with blingy jewellery or bright accessories. Black looks luxe and sophisticated whilst also being slimming, but don’t shy away from prints if you really love them! Floral prints are perfect for more casual events, and embroidered and lacey designs are ideal for cocktails, weddings or cruises.

Matching shoes
We’d recommend a pair of heels to stop your outfit looking too masculine, and also help if your trousers are just an inch too long! However, if you’re looking for a casual summer look, some strappy sandals or cute flats would keep you looking equally fabulous.
