With December fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about the Christmas partywear for 2019.
From glitzy party dresses to jeans and a nice top, and a sumptuous jumpsuit in between, 2019 promises another stellar year for gorgeous metallics, crushed velvets and silks and satins, but has thrown in some show-stealing curb-balls for you gorgeous 50+ ladies aiming to create a bold look for the Christmas party.
At SoSensational, our raison d’etre is to choose the perfect occasionwear for Christmas weddings, black-tie events at the Hilton or a cosy house party, so whilst we’re showing you some of our must-have pieces for the season, we’ve found so many more we couldn’t keep to ourselves, so you’ll find them here!
One thing we’ll never tire of, and we’re never too old for, for Christmas and the party is a gorgeous, glitzy dress, top or jumpsuit. Whether you prefer all-out sequin jumpsuits, a pretty embellished dress or metallic threaded trousers, there’s always plenty to choose from for party season. Of course, the LBD makes its appearance in glitter form, and a variety of lengths to suit floor-sweeping ball gowns and pin-enhancing knee-length pieces.
Whether in a LBD style (or dark green, or dark red- any dark colour adds instant glamour!), or as a finishing touch, satin adds an extra luxe element to every dress or top. Team your top with some gorgeous palazzos, or a dress with some chunky, statement jewellery to add extra texture, and you’ll have instant Christmas party and New Years event style points.
Feather detailing has been a huge fashion phenomenon this season, and whilst every time we hear this we do think about dressing up as Big Bird, in reality there are some seriously chic Christmas party pieces out there with the perfect feather touches! Whether you’d prefer a bold statement in Gina Bacconi’s feather trim dress, or would prefer some edge detailing to create a subtle but stylish look like in Amanda Wakeley’s iconic design, there’s (surprisingly) plenty of choice- what do you think?
A surprising one for the season; but we love it! If you’re looking for something that really stands out against the crowd, sequins just don’t make the cut any more. Against a backdrop of LBDs and dark metallics, a gorgeous white piece is sure to pop out against the average trend! Ignore the myths that white makes you look bigger, just pick a figure-flattering piece that emphasises your best bits, be it cinching in your waist, showcasing your pins or going low-cut for your bosom!
Continuing on from the peasant blouse and square neck trends of summer, puffed-out sleeves are making a huge comeback for the party season! This maximalist trend shows no sign of cooling down with the partywear trends, and looks ultra-feminine if you dare to rock the trend. These look particularly gorgeous on pear shapes; widening your shoulders to pair with your hips and create a sumptuous little waist perfect for cocktails and prosecco!
We’ll admit, when we’re so focused on a sparkly, sequined dress, we do have a habit of forgetting about a jacket until the last minute, but take it from us, it can make or break an outfit! This season, cropped, fitted blazers, faux fur, sequins and metallics and belted jackets are all to die for, so take your pick!
Got your party outfit sorted? We’d love to see where you’ve found your favourite piece…
