Last (and Best) of the Summer White

We love white for summer.

When it’s hot, or we are going on holiday, there’s nothing quite like dressing in casual white summer dresses and tops to make us feel cool. And look cool, too.

So as the summer continues to heat up and the holiday season gets under way, we are bringing you the Last of the Summer White.

White dresses be wow on white

There is a lot of white to love at Marisota From white dresses for days and occasions, to tailored jackets and holiday-perfect trousers and shorts. Naturally, they offer a dazzling array of all-white and mainly-white tees and tops. And, of course, all of their wonderful white pieces are sold in sizes 10 to 20.

Here is some of the wonderful white we have found for you, such as this effortlessly chic long-line pleat-detail coat (right) which is perfect for a special occasion. An older bride could wear it over a simple knee-length dress to create an endlessly glamorous wedding outfit. We also think this elegant cold-shoulder dress (left) would be a head-turning choice for a party as well as for holidays.

And, naturally, the white palazzo trousers, white dresses and the white lace top all deserve a place in our suitcase for a cruise or for holiday-wear.

White dresses working with your curves

Curvy girls sometimes avoid white. There’s a belief white is unflattering. It’s a silly idea, based on the way light plays on white. The trick if you are curvy, is to avoid anything too fitted or tight. over your curves!

In white, looser (possibly oversized) always looks chic and expensive.

Elvi has lots of White with which to tempt us for summer and holidays. But if you love something, you’ll have to be quick with your click as the Elvi Sale is in full swing (with up to 60% off). If you are a devotee, you will know that almost their entire collection is available in sizes 8 to 28. And, cleverly, Elvi photograph everything on regular models AND Plus models, to show how something looks on different body-types.

Here are some of our most-loved white pieces for curvy girls. We love the cool simplicity of these stunning dresses, which can be accessorised with chunky sandals and a basket or oversized tote for casual days. They could also be glammed up with gold sandals, a small bag and earrings for dinner under the stars.

How to wear white dresses

White can be a bit see-through, which may make us a bit wary of wearing it. We feel sure you know that nude-colour bra and briefs are the least visible when wearing white. If a top or dress is very transparent, you can also consider wearing a light-control shaping vest or cami in nude-tone underneath.

While head-to-toe white is stunning, it’s not the only way to wear it. You might want to add a generous dash of white to offset denim or black… White works well as a layering colour under a jacket or jumper, or over a vest or cami. Plus a skirt or trousers, obviously!

While white suits most of us – especially when we are tanned – it doesn’t suit everyone! Snowy white can make us look drained if we have Cyndy’s warm colouring. But snow white isn’t the only shade. There are a surprisingly large number of shades, from lightest, whitest white, all the way to clotted cream.

If you like snow white just not next to your face, there’s no reason to reject it. The simple solution is to wear another colour next to your face. For example, a collar-style necklace or creamy pearls or chains in a gold tone. (Chains would be gold-tone because if silver suits you, white will, too!) Or you could add a scarf in a flattering shade.

Here is more grown-up white to love. We think these dresses (especially the dresses with sleeves) are perfect for work, weekends and holidays. Also, here are white dresses for beach, sightseeing or dining, all just crying out for a place in your holiday suitcase!

Do you love wearing white for summer? Do you wear it on it’s own, or with another colour?

So what do you think?
