As we approach 2016, perhaps it’s time to start giving some thought to the new season loveliness following the post-January sales. And with this in mind, here is our Spring 2016 preview to ensure you know exactly what to be purchasing for that wardrobe refresh.
Key Pieces:
Daywear: The white shirt got an overhaul in lots of collections and we love it – a crisp white shirt transcends seasons and works for most women, but if you want to be seriously on trend when Spring hits then you need to show a little flesh and add a little structure to this wardrobe classic a la Zac Posen.

Eveningwear: Spring sees a romantic takeover; ruffles were everywhere in the collections , particularly in Milan. And no one made them more desirable than Gucci. With ruffles and sheer fabrics providing the perfect look for all the spring weddings you have to attend.

Key shapes:
Volume: Trousers and culottes are not going away, but what made us super happy was the paper-bag waist shapes everywhere , notably in Milan and New York. Volume makes them super flattering, and they give off a slightly masculine feel that works perfectly with a light knit top and classic brogues as done by 3.1 Philip Lim

Shoulders: The cold shoulder was a trend that was welcomed in 2015 and it shows no signs of stopping for Spring. And at least it is a little more practical in the warmer months. This S/S16 season sees additional straps around the neckline but one thing’s for sure it is time to bare those shoulders once more

Print, Pattern and colour :
Stripes are strong again this season. Colour is also still essential and was seen on all the runways, though clever Victoria Beckham added just splashes of colour to basic black. And, of course, colour transitions brilliantly from day to night with a simple switch of accessories. For a glamorous spring daytime look take inspiration from Max Mara.

The Accessory:
We love it when a new cult bag is launched and Spring 2016 sees the half-moon bag take that accolade. Victoria Beckham showcased an over-the-top huuuge version, whilst Michael Kors gave us a more demure clutch style. Either way it is the bag shape du jour for Spring 2016.

Other style points:
- Denim has gone lightweight with a solid blue wash
- 1970s suede and fringing is still around for Spring 16
- Orange is the big highlight colour for Spring 2016 (Good news for Cyndy) but mainlyused as a highlight colour rather than head to toe (not such good news for Cyndy)
