Like SoSensational, fashion-brand Finery understands that great fashion is ageless; that what works for mature women is all about great pieces that extend our wardrobe or excite us – preferably both!
And if those great pieces also happen to have sleeves, longer hemlines and aren’t girly, well that’s a win-win.
Finery picked five of their wearers to star in their seasonal campaign to prove exactly how ageless the brand’s clothing and accessories are. Picking women aged from 23 to 70, they organised a professional photo-shoot with them wearing Finery pieces from the exciting collection and of course, their super on-trend accessories.
All five women look fabulous, of course, in their pieces from the Finery collection, but we have to own up to being mainly interested in just two: Penelope Dalrymple-Smith, who is 70 and retired from her pearl-jewellery business, and Suzanne Bernie, 50, a Stylist and founder of a fashion blog. Both of these women perfectly demonstrate the ageless nature of truly great clothes.
Penelope says that New Year, for her, is a celebration featuring “a lot of good champagne and delicious food” for which she will dress up and put on “some rocks. I like modern jewellery; it’s got an edge to it.” She particularly loved the bold Finery brooch that she paired with the navy jumpsuit that she adored, commenting: “It was just ‘me’”.
As well as looking stunning in that navy jumpsuit, we think Penelope also looks amazing in the monochrome striped Somerford skirt , teamed with a simple tweedy sweater.
Leeds-born personal stylist and blogger Suzanne Bernie has a hairstylist husband and two daughters who are both models. The festive season sees Suzanne and her family returning to her hometown of Leeds, a place where growing up she felt like an outsider; her New Romantic bloomers inevitably garnered strange looks.
Suzanne says that when she moved to London 33 years ago she felt like she fitted in and has been in love with London ever since: “You can be anyone you want, dress anyway you like. Finery is absolutely what London is about; different and interesting.” Suzanne describes her style as androgynous with a sexy twist: “I usually wear jeans with a sexy top and fab shoes. I’m not a ‘dress person’, but for Finery I’ll give it a go.”
We particularly love her in those superb pink turn up trousers, and the white top, as well as in that funky jumpsuit.
