It is January. What, apart from icy weather, can we predict with certainty about January?
We can predict that 50-plus women (indeed, 30-plus women and even some 20-plus women) will look in a full-length mirror, review the pounds accumulated over the festive period, and decide to Get Fit and Lose Weight.
Now, we could be gloomy and predict that by March, all that resolve to get fit and lose weight will have gone out the window. But we’re not being gloomy.
We are not being gloomy for two reasons: 1 is that we mature women are good at determination and will-power. And 2 is because of all the motivational advice (and terrific active-wear) offered by La Redoute.
La Redoute is, of course, a clothing brand, but with their Guide Fit For 2017 they have clearly thought long and hard about helping us all to stay on track with fitness in 2017. We especially love their slogan: Be Stronger Than Your Excuses. As they say, we are all really good at excuses, but La Redoute also acknowledge that we’re “all really busy and…after a long day at work” we may be reluctant to go back outdoors to fulfil our fitness plan.
To help, they have devised a 6-point plan covering everything from motivating ourselves, to avoiding getting comfy on the sofa when we get home from work; by combining diet and exercise to see significant changes to our body, and by not depriving ourselves of everything we like.
Finally, they suggest we treat ourselves to some shiny new fitness-wear because if we have gorgeous new activity wear, we’re going to want to wear it! They concede that we might be thinking, “Well, they would say that” but in our view, too, fabulous fitness wear helps as a way to motivate ourselves.
They have also drafted in help from some of the UK’s leading fitness bloggers who offer some really useful guidelines for getting fit in 2017. These include Eltoria, PTMollie and the Runner Beans.
The bloggers all offer helpful and highly practical tips. A universal suggestion is choosing an activity you enjoy. They also agree that whatever activity we choose, it is best done in the morning. Both these ideas were summed up by FitBits, who said: “Find something you enjoy and get your exercise done in the morning so you can be smug all day, and chill in the evenings. It sucks to set an early alarm but once you’ve got up it’s really not that bad!” She adds that she puts here phone outside her bedroom at night so she is forced to get up to turn the alarm off!
If you are thinking about getting into a fitness regime in 2017, find great active-wear at La Redoute and do keep in mind there is a sale on right now with up to 60% off, and with up 70% starting Friday. And the new collection will be launched on 28th January.
