Punk, purple, plaid. Autumn/winter 2019 is primed and ready to bring a whole new host of fashion trends; and we can’t wait!
After scowering the runways, noseying at all the new season collections and dreaming up our own key fashions, there’s no denying that a/w has a few trends that are simply made for the younger ones; but when did that ever stop us? Join us on a journey through this season’s it-trends, whether they perfectly suit us gorgeous ladies over 50, or we have to mix things up a bit to spin a mature take on millennial trends.
Punk
Whether you were a rowdy teenager or young adult, or just growing up in the era, there’s no doubt that we caught the beginning of punk. This trend is giving us seriously nostalgic feelings, but we’re loving the pretty-punk take the high street and designers are playing on this look! There’s a wide range of pieces from leather trousers to pinned-together jumpers, so we’ve chosen a few of our favourites for fashion for over 50s.
Fur
Every autumn/winter, fur and borg comes back in a timely fashion, and we can’t get enough! Whether you love an opulent faux fur coat, or just a simple fur collar, there’s something for everyone.

Dark Florals
There’s no doubt that florals were key for summer, so we’re pleased to see their reign continue! This season choose darker pieces that team perfectly with the punk look, and match those darker nights that are swiftly heading our way.

Checks
Checks and plaid are a staple when it comes to punk, and fit equally well within the cosy spectrum of colours that autumn and winter bring! Bring a stylish yet mature plaid look to the table with a sensational suit, blazer or comfortable check shirt. From the punk trend, suiting is also a key piece, so a check power suit is the perfect way to mix two trends together.

Purple
One of the more surprising yet welcome trends of the season is purple! This year, we can wave goodbye to the classic autumnal hues of mustard and rust, and welcome all shades of purple into our wardrobe. Whether it’s a classic plum or palma violet lilac, purple was seen all over the runways. They make a great accent colour teamed with classic winter colours like black and grey, or stand out as a statement piece.

Giant Bags
Have you seen those tiny bags that have been everywhere this summer? Whilst cute, they aren’t at all practical, so our faces beamed when we saw giant bags heading back this way! We just love a hobo bag or shopper for the weekends; throw your cash, umbrella and all of your high street shopping into one piece and head on your way.
