Heading out for some delicious toffee apples, standing around the bonfire, looking up to view the beautiful firework display?
It might be the one time during autumn where we’re willing to stand out in the cold, so we may as well do it in style! With cosy knits, practical footwear and warm coats, it’s easy to dress the part this Guy Fawkes Night.
Whatever your look, there’s a gorgeous Bonfire Night outfit to suit you. Whether you love autumnal colourways, elegant luxe designs or just want to stay warm and cosy, let our 5 looks inspire you for the evening (or any outdoor winter event!).
Country Casual
Country style is timeless and stylish for any age group, and the cosy fabrics, patterns and textures work perfectly for Bonfire Night. We’ve mixed things up by swapping the iconic Barbour out with the Barbour Bridport Jacket– a cosy jacket with the classic waterproof wax finish, topped with a cosy faux fur hood for the elements, and sherpa lining to keep your warm whilst toasting your marshmallows. We’ve kept with the country colour scheme by teaming navy with shades of green with the luxe Mohair Icelandic Jumper from Brora with its seasonal pattern and warm knit, and simple Dark Blue Mid Rise Jeggings that tuck into our wellington boots. The Neoprene Molly Mid Height Wellies from Joules come in a country khaki colour and feature a cute fox design, and the look is completed by navy accessories like the Cable knit Pom-Pom Beanie and Dogtooth Print Scarf.
Fall Colours
For a look to suit the season, look for leafy colours and layers of textures for an autumnal look. We just love Marks & Spencer’s Faux Fur Coat with its Peter Pan collar and vintage-styled buttons and pockets. With a chunky mustard knit underneath like the Elodie Jumper from Boden, this will keep you extra cosy and warm whilst out. To tie the two colours together, we’ve chosen the Brown Lightweight Check Scarf from Topshop, enabling us to choose a simple lower half! With the Lea Sculpting Jean from Hobbs tucked into the glossy Original Hunter Wellington Boots, this look is both stylish and interchangeable for a number of occasions.
Prepped
For a cosy preppy look perfect for pumpkin patches and Bonfire Night alike, we’ve chosen a mix of riding pieces with classic knits and coat styles suitable for stylish 50+ ladies. As a base, we’ve chosen the Ivy Skinny Leg Jeans from Marks & Spencer, with their slightly stonewashed indigo colourway, and a navy and red Long-Sleeved Cuffed Shirt from La Redoute. We’ve topped this shirt with the Fine Knit V-Neck Jumper from Polo Ralph Lauren, and completed the look with some gorgeous Knee High Leather Riding Boots and a Seacole Pea Coat in mustard from Boden to add a pop of colour to your look.
Cosy
For a luxe, cosy look, we’ve chosen a simple grey, black and plum colourway, and plenty of warm fabrics! We’ve teamed the Cashmilon Relaxed Fit Jumper from Marks & Spencer with some comfy Black Fleece Lined Leggings from New Look for a super warm base layer. We’ve topped this with Phase Eight’s gorgeous Deasia Quilted Puffer Jacket in plum for warmth and sophistication, the Mimie Shearling Ankle Boots from FitFlop and Ted Baker’s Knitted Chenille Hat and Scarf Set to finish this textured look.
A Touch of Sparkle
If you love a softer look with faux fur and diamante detailling, our touch of sparkle look is perfect. With the Crystal-Embellished Cashmere-Blend Sweater from Christopher Kane as a centre piece, we’ve kept a soft pastel look to the outfit with the Stone Faux Fur Trim Coat from River Island, Grey Ribbed Gem Embellished Bobble Hat from New Look and Sophia Super Soft Straight Leg Jeans from Marks & Spencer. To toughen up the look, we’ve added the Chelsea Boot Wellingtons from Hunter.
