Hope Fashion is the British womenswear brand that Nayna McIntosh created specifically for chic older women. Its stunning new Power Foundation Collection embodies the sense of empowerment and confidence we recall from 1980s power dressing.
Unlike 80s power dressing that was all sharp lines and shoulders wider than the 747 wingspan, Hope’s collection is deconstructed and fluid. Here are modern silhouettes and bold shapes in luxe fabrics in which to wrap, drape and cocoon ourselves. And there’s a clever twist, too…

For A/W 18, Hope has taken the stretchy, sculpting fabric from its bestselling Foundation shape-wear collection. Normally we would wear these beneath our clothes. They have fused two layers of it to create a collection of beautiful separates. These are special enough to wear alone but still retain structure, shaping, and comfort.
The fabrics in the collection are super flattering, too. Soft wool, recycled cashmere, sumptuous velvet and fluid jersey in a tonal palette of pale and rich shades.
FLUIDITY
Hope has crafted these luxury fabrics into a covetable collection that includes trousers, slinky bias-cut skirts, oversized knits and slouchy tops. All the pieces are perfect for artful layering and are versatile enough for all the areas of our life. Our favourites include the long knitted coat in palest grey (left) and the pale combo of skirt and sweater plus oversized wrap.
Left: Waterfall Top; Bias Cut Midi Skirt; The Double Knit Coat – due in mid October
Right: Cashmere Blend Jumper; Cashmere Blend Wrap; Bias Cut Midi Skirt
FLEXIBILITY
These pieces are timeless, sensuous and subtly sexy as well as deliciously grown up and ageless. We love the power duo of the Power Foundation Pencil Skirt and the Power Foundation Off-the-Shoulder Top (below left). We cannot wait to wear this stunning duo with heeled boots and a statement necklace (or earrings) for the party season. And also look impressive at work if we switch to flats (or chunky boots) and an oversized tote. And for those who crave colour, we love the rich ruby tones of the head-turning tops and trousers in sumptuous silk and velvet (right).

FABULOUS COATS
And all these scrumptious pieces are complemented by coats in sublime fabrics. Cyndy especially loves the architectural simplicity, the scrunchy texture and the ethereal paleness of this camel coat. Jan has a spot in her heart (and her wardrobe) for the elegant faux Shearling coat in black (centre), while the long jersey waistcoat (right) would work so well as a layering piece.
