Time and time again we’re asked how to look good at 70.
With so many high street stores, boutique blogs and high end designers that cut off their designs and information at 50 year olds, mixed with even stores aimed for older people featuring 20 year old models, we can see why it’s proving so difficult to find hints and tips for the mature lady over 60 or 70.
Fortunately, fashion is ageless, and the most important thing is to be yourself! Of the few articles we could find, most are telling us about ‘age appropriate clothing’. Here at SoSensational, we want to inspire you to stay on trend, but on your own terms, with your own fashion-forward style choices- it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it!
With this in mind, we’ve chosen some fabulously fashionable pieces we think would look gorgeous on a 70+ lady, so you can wave goodbye to out of style pieces, and mix trending looks with your own style.
Colour
A pop of colour looks gorgeous on a 70+ lady, and will do wonders for your complexion, hair and even eyes if you pick the right colour combos. If you love monochrome, why not mix things up with colourful nails or a colour-pop bag? Alternatively, match your colours to your season (Not sure what your season is? Have a look here), and brighten up the day with a gorgeous block colour, patterned design or even colour clash, particularly on a slightly slouchy look! Whether you have gorgeous blue eyes or you’ve left you hair a natural grey or white, choosing clothes in the correct colours for you will make you look younger and effortlessly stylish.

Mix up a Classic
As we’ve just mentioned, a pop of colour can give a classic piece like a mac or blazer a whole new refresh for the modern woman. However, you don’t need to add a bright colour pop to modernise a classic! A crisp white shirt can look oh-so chic with a pair of smart neutral coloured trousers or some well-fitting jeans; or a cashmere jumper will look timeless and elegant- wear your tops exactly how you want to ensure you’ll still be looking good at 70.

Occasion Wear for Over 70s
Trouser suits, jumpsuits and luxe sheer jackets are becoming increasingly popular, so if you’ve always been somewhat of a tomboy, don’t feel you have to change! We all know dresses are gorgeous, and there’s plenty of style advice available for you on SoSensational, but who can have too many clothes? Not us, so here’s a few of our favourite jumpsuits and trouser suits.
Choose looks that play to your best parts- we love and off the shoulder top, but want to keep our arms and legs covered. If you find the perfect dress, top or jumpsuit but it doesn’t have any sleeves, a sheer jacket is a gorgeous low-cost outer layer that doesn’t hide your outfit.

Accessories for Over 70s
Accessories are the perfect way to mix up an old outfit, or add a twist to a simple one, and how glamorous do ladies look with the perfect pair of sunglasses on? Aside from a pair of gorgeous sunglasses (we think oversized looks particularly alluring), a pretty coloured or printed scarf can smarten or brighten up an outfit, your favourite vintage brooch can add a touch of retro style, or a chunky necklace can add a modern touch to your look.
