Hair products are often full of chemicals.
Asgar Saboo, hair stylist to celebrities, including Cindy Crawford, suggests opting for a more natural, simple approach to detoxing your hair by creating your own cleansing and nourishing remedies.
Cleanse Hair Without Chemicals
All you need is baking soda and apple cider vinegar! Take one cup of filtered water (or bottled spring water) and add a tablespoon of baking soda. Mix well and work this through your hair. Rinse. Take a second cup of filtered water (or bottled spring water) and mix this with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Work this through hair then rinse. Done!
Help Hair reclaim its softness and shine by whipping up your own hair mask
Nurture your hair back to health with the contents of your fridge. You need a ripe avocado, 1 egg, and a tablespoon of honey. The avocado is rich in fatty acids and vitamins to help heal dry locks. The eggs will replenish protein, while honey is full of antioxidants and nutrients. Mash the avocado in a bowl, and add the beaten egg and the honey. Mix it well and apply to clean, damp hair. Let the mixture work its magic for approximately 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water.
Go heat-free
During the party season we use heat devices such as hairdryers, straighteners and curling irons to achieve the perfect party looks. The continuous use of hot hair tools can leave hair with split ends and as a dull, lifeless mane. Asgar’s advice is simple, but effective. Resist the appeal of blow-dried hair and perfectly curled locks , and just let your hair dry naturally and do its thing for a couple of weeks. You might have to survive without that impeccable blow-dry bounce, but your hair will thank you.
Voilà! Your hair is revitalized, detoxed, and ready for 2017!
