Race season is here, but what are you going to wear?
We can’t resist the opportunity to wear something chic and glamorous, so what’s better than putting a gorgeous outfit on, drinking bubbly, and watching the classically British sport of horse racing?
We’ve been searching high and low for the perfect outfit for race days like Royal Ascot on the 18th-22nd of June or more local races taking place throughout summer, but it’s surprisingly hard to find stunning race fashion for over 50s! With that in mind, we’ve chosen a few of our favourites to help you choose your perfect outfit.
This season, think block colours and bold prints. Choose between bright fuchsias, classic monochrome, pretty pastel or even sun-kissed neutrals- there’s a colour for everyone! Bardot necklines look stunning on gorgeous 50+ ladies (just check the dress code at your event), wrap dresses with sleeves help cinch in the waist and cover your arms, and high neck dresses look chic.
If you don’t like dresses, do not worry! Blazer suits are trending this season, and look so chic on the older lady. Alternatively, jumpsuits never go out of style and come in some gorgeous, flattering designs!
Top your dress (especially if it’s strappy as this may go against the dress code) with a chic cardigan, blazer or jacket to keep you warm in the breeze. Contrast a patterned dress with a plain bolero, or mix up a simple dress with a gorgeous embellished piece.
When it comes to shoes, we like to find a balance between style and comfort. You’re likely to be on your feet all day, and no one wants their heels sticking in the mud! If you’re likely to be stood in a grassy area, choose some gorgeous espadrille wedges, or if you’re on hard ground, go all-out in some smart court heels.
You can’t head to the races without a gorgeous hat or fascinator to top things off! Some races require a hat, whereas some are more lax and allow a pretty fascinator or oversized headband.
Are you heading to a race day this year? We’d love to hear your stories in the comments…
