September is the biggest month on the fashion calendar.
It is the time of the year we forget that winter is coming and look forward to the trends we will all be wearing come spring next year.
So we thought we would round up the trends off the catwalks that you could wear in your everyday life as a fabulous, mature woman.
Stripes and Clashing Prints. We love stripes for S/S. They are a wardrobe staple and work for every style, look and age. Altuzarra perfected the look for Spring 2017 by clashing them with floral prints and feminine silhouettes. Try this look out next season for a low key summer wedding and really show off your fashion credentials. For a more relaxed take on this trend, seek inspiration from Lacoste and don a striped maxi on those warm summer weekends.
Loose and Muted. New neutrals are always a great investment, and light khaki is the colour for S/S 2017. Wear in a loose silhouette, and style with white and denim for a relaxed weekend look. Creatures of Comfort showcased this amazingly, with a cute, summer khaki dress and we adore it worn with those chunky flat sandals. Or you can take a leaf out of Blumarine’s book and wear it with flattering florals for a feminine take, ideal for a dinner date.
Pastel Brights. Pastel brights were everywhere and they are the go-to gown colours for any big events you have planned for next summer. This Jason Wu lemon yellow gown is delicate and cut to perfection, and this Prabal Gurung blush pink dress is the perfect show stopping gown – we can’t wait to see if there is a high street copy. Style wise, gowns are all about the splits this season, so get those legs ready.
Statement Waistbands. Waistbands just got glam! We can’t wait to get a pair of perfectly tailored DVF trousers with a statement waistband. They emphasis those womanly curves and hide any little tummies we might want to forget. Also we loved the whole DVF collection, the clashing prints and sublime detail made this great fashion for women over 50.
The S/S White Shirt. We couldn’t have been happier when we saw the changing hemlines for the classic white shirt in 2017. It is time to drop those hems and adopt the white shirt dress as seen at Blumarine, Banana Republic, Rag & Bone … the list goes on. We have said it before and we will say it again. No wardrobe is complete without a classic white shirt, and now a white shirt dress.
Which is the trend you will be adopting for Spring/Summer 2017? Or will you be leaving them alone? We’d love to know below…
